Among the new audio and video products that will be presented at the CES show in Las Vegas in early January 2025, Dynaudio has already announced its Symphony Opus One soundbar. This giant model has 24 speakers and measures no less than 185 cm wide! A great soundbar whose price will necessarily match.
The first Dynaudio soundbar
Dynaudio has never released a soundbar until now. The brand is well present in HiFi speakers connected with the Focus series. It was active in wireless speakers a few years ago, but the Music range has not been renewed. For its first soundbar, Dynaudio is not doing things by halves. It’s definitely not a model that’s for everyone. With 73″ width, or 185 cm, it will preferably be combined with screens of 83″ and above.
Aesthetically, the Symphony Opus One is made of a discreet gray aluminum chassis. It serves as a frame on the facade. The upper and side parts are covered with fabric. Facing the listeners, there are 72 vertical pieces of wood which pivot to open or close the bar. Does their orientation have an impact on the diffusion of sound? We don't know yet. Still, they are obviously motorized. Different shades of wood should be offered.
A few function keys are integrated into the aluminum frame. They allow you to modulate the sound level and select one of four sources: HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, auxiliary audio input and WiFi.
24 speakers
The Symphony bar includes 24 speakers distributed as follows: 6 tweeters, 14 10 cm midranges and 4 woofers. The latter are installed face to face, two by two, with a force cancellation system, as on the Dynaudio Sub RCC built-in subwoofers. These are all speakers made by Dynaudio specifically for this bar. They are derived from HiFi and professional models. They will reproduce Dolby Atmos thanks to their number, their specific orientation and digital processing of sound projection in all directions. On this subject, Dynaudio has provided four audio modes:
- Authentic is a mode operating in stereo for HiFi use of the bar, as if we were facing a pair of speakers, minus the cables.
- Soundstage expands the stereo sound field to provide a greater feeling of space and openness.
- Immersive is the complete Atmos experience.
- DeepDive delivers virtual surround sound from any source using the same technology as Immersive mode.
An auto-calibration system is present. It uses a microphone located in the soundbar remote control to take measurements ideally for the spectators. These 24 speakers are amplified by 1500 Watts of power.
Who is the Dynaudio Symphony Opus One for?
This giant soundbar incorporating the best of Dynaudio is intended for those who want to obtain immersive sound in their living space, but who want to avoid having to install ten or more speakers. However, Dynaudio has already announced that they will offer surround speakers and a wireless subwoofer. Perhaps to the WiSA standard which the Dynaudio Focus connected HiFi speakers are already equipped with. The Symphony Opus One bar is in all cases aimed at wealthy enthusiasts, who must have a television of at least 83″ and the possibility of paying the 24.000€ requested ($20,000 excluding taxes).
