Google continues to innovate in generative artificial intelligence (AI) with the launch of Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking. This new experimental model stands out for its ability to explain its reasoning process, thus offering unprecedented transparency. Our first impressions are very favorable.

This innovative approach allows users to understand how AI arrives at its conclusions, building confidence and making debugging easier. Access to the model is via Google AI Studio and Vertex AI, allowing developers to experiment with it, according to this note. This allowed us to assess the quality of the processing of complex requests.

Dissect the thought of’IA

Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking “thinks out loud,” breaking down complex problems into simpler steps and justifying your choices. This feature, called “see the model’s thoughts,” provides a visualization of the AI’s intellectual journey. In the test interface, simply click on “Thoughts”.

This transparency is especially useful for tasks that require deep reasoning, like solving math problems or analyzing complex data. It also allows us to better understand the strengths and limits of the model and to validate or not the validity of the response.

A major step forward for theinterpretable AI

This new model marks a break with traditional AI, often considered as “black boxes”. By making its reasoning visible, Google is paving the way for AI that is more interpretable and understandable to humans. He had already taken the path by indicating very early on the sources used by his first versions of Gemini.

This advance is crucial for the development of more reliable and responsible AI, capable of collaborating effectively with humans. It also allows for better identification and correction of potential biases. After testing the “2.0 Flash Experimental”, “2.0 Experimental Advanced” and “2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental” models, I can only see Google’s comeback!
