These 110 hectares of du Piple, in Sucy-en-Brie and Boissy-Saint-Léger, are part of the regional green plan

It took more than 25 years to convince the owners to sell the Bois du Piple estate, in the south of Val-de-, in the communes of Sucy-en-Brie and Boissy-Saint-Léger. On November 13, the region announced the purchase of these 110 hectares, which were part of one of the last large private forests in the department, for an amount of 2.35 million euros. This acquisition is part of the Ile-de-France green plan, aiming to make 1,500 hectares accessible by 2030.

“This natural space – the equivalent of 160 football fields – is strategic for the preservation of biodiversity and the strengthening of regional ecological continuities”, indicates the Ile-de-France Nature Agency, which will manage this new space on behalf of Ile-de-France. Located between the Grosbois estate and the Notre-Dame forest, the site will ensure continuity between these two green lungs of eastern . Classified as a natural area of ​​ecological, fauna and flora interest (Znieff), it is home to numerous animal and plant species, including 12 protected.

An opening in 2026

Work is planned to develop the site, to open it to the public in 2026. Located near the RER A terminus in Boissy-Saint-Léger, it will also be accessible by bus. Pathways will be created, signage installed, the built heritage – an 18th century castle – renovated, such as hydraulic works and ponds. The Ile-de-France Nature agency will invest 500,000 euros in these projects. The municipalities of Sucy-en-Brie and Boissy-Saint-Léger will cover maintenance and monitoring to the tune of 50,000 euros per year.
