Eclairion is opening a major rental supercomputer hosting center in Bruyères-le-Châtel, in Essonne, at a cost of 300 million euros. This subsidiary of the HPC Capital group has chosen to operate in an environment where high-density computing players are already established, to meet the needs of businesses and research. The field is vast: “whether for aerospace or medical research, to use artificial intelligence, create digital twins or do simulation, it is necessary to use algorithms that need to calculate in a way that powerful and multiplied,” observes François Sabatino, president of Eclairion.
Eclairion obtained 3 million euros as part of the call for projects “large places of innovation” in the Ile-de-France region
The site, located near the CEA military applications department and the Teratec high-performance digital simulation center, will be operational at the end of the first quarter of 2025. The structure, installed on metal gratings, is made up of four platforms. 2,500 m², capable of accommodating container modules containing high-density computers for a total of 60 to 80 MW.
Adaptable structures
Customers will be able to choose the configuration they need. “Companies need to find a secure location, with great power, and the opportunity to adapt to changes. To do this, the infrastructure that accommodates these machines must be able to follow these developments, notes François Sabatino. Power continues to increase, cooling methods evolve. So we no longer cool with air but with water, or using an immersion method.”
Eclairion obtained 3 million euros as part of the “large places of innovation” call for projects in the Ile-de-France region. “It will allow us, with the region, Teratec and Cap Digital, to create a place to support structures which are starting out in the field of high-density computing and which need, for example, to know where to raise funds, to be able to imagine their model , adds François Sabatino. A building will be built to occasionally accommodate new players.”
