Inflation has been weighing on French finances for several years now. And this is why many consumers favor brands with more affordable prices like Temu or Shein. A new firm also wants to compete with them.
A platform that wants to compete with Shein and Temu
Shein and Temu are a real hit with consumers. These platforms, originating from fast fashion, offer a wide range of products at very affordable prices. On the other hand, a new brand should soon compete with them.
This is Tangbuy. This platform could clearly revolutionize your online purchasing habits. A French YouTuber, Laurette, also tested this site. She then made a unfiltered feedback to Internet users.
According to the email received by Laurette, Tangbuy presents itself as “a platform that offers direct access to Chinese manufacturers with prices even lower than Shein and Temu”. The promise can also seem very attractive.

Particularly in a context where inflation is pushing many consumers to look for ever less expensive alternatives. Tangbuy offered Laurette a paid collaboration. On the other hand, the latter preferred to test the site without sponsorship.
In a detailed video, she then revealed her verdict. She did not hesitate to highlight the positive points, but also negative ones which concern the platform. If it wants to compete with giants like Action or Temy, it would still have adjustments to make.
One of the first weaknesses noted is the absence of a French version. Unlike Shein or Temu, which offer translated interfaces, Tangbuy only offers English and Chinese. Which can make navigation difficult for many users.
Negative points
Laurette also notes that research is often imprecise. For example, typing “winter dress” brings up mainly evening or summer dresses. Even by refining your search with “winter dress wool”, the results remain irrelevant.
This concern could quickly discourage consumers accustomed to smooth navigation on more established platforms. On the other hand, Tangbuy still stands out with very competitive initial prices.

For similar items, Laurette actually observes lower prices than Shein and Temu. On the other hand, it revealed that a series of additional costs were added to his purchases. And it’s for a very specific reason.
Each item is subject to transaction fees and warehouse fees. These are added to the base price. These extras can sometimes exceed the original cost of the product. Fees that can therefore deter consumers.
For an order as little as 8 euros, shipping options range from reasonable to exorbitant amounts, ranging up to 30 euros for delivery by UPS of a 250 gram package.
Tangbuy also offers paid options to protect the package, such as bubble wrap or reinforced packaging, further increasing the total cost. It therefore remains to be seen whether despite these negative points, the platform stands out from Shein or Temu.
