Nobody asked for it and yet this brand launched a connected ring with an integrated screen

For the past year, connected rings have been on the rise. In addition to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Ring, Oura launched its fourth generation smart ring this year while Amazfit also entered the market with the Helio Ring.

Connected rings: what models are available?

These connected rings offer different autonomy, designs and applications, but all have the same interest. They make it possible to retrieve health data without being as distracting as a connected watch. Here, no screen, no notifications and even the possibility of wearing a real watch on your wrist.

This was without counting on the Chinese manufacturer Rogbid which announced its Rogbid SR08 Ultra ring last week.

At first glance, it looks like a traditional smart ring with a weight of 4 grams and a thickness of 2.5 mm. It is made of epoxy resin for the interior and titanium for the exterior. The ring is also able to analyze health and exercise data with heart rate, blood oxygen level, sleep or the number of steps taken during the day. Surprisingly, Rogbid’s illustration, above, also seems to use blood pressure (in mm Hg) instead of blood oxygenation (expressed as a percentage). Enough to inspire a certain distrust.

A screen to view your various health data

But the Rogbid SR08 Ultra is distinguished by an unexpected function to say the least: a screen. It is in fact capable of displaying the time thanks to a small screen. A touch surface will allow you to turn the display on or off, but also to navigate through the different measured data. On the other hand, it does not appear that Rogbid supports notifications from the smartphone.

Logically, such a screen will consume more battery. The Chinese brand announces up to five days of autonomy… taking into account the charging case. This can be used to recharge the ring 4 to 6 times, so we can expect the SR08 Ultra to last around 24 hours. We are far from the week of autonomy offered on the best connected rings on the market.

The Rogbid SR08 Ultra is available in six sizes, from 54 to 66.5 mm. It is offered in three colors – black, silver or gold – at a price of 189.99 euros, but launched at 89.99 euros.
