The hidden meaning of these bracelets that Queen Camilla never separates from

The wife of King Charles III inherited the world’s largest jewelry collection upon acceding to the British throne. And yet, she never takes off certain bracelets from her personal collection, even on special occasions. Among them, some have a very special meaning.

When she became queen consort following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, Queen Camilla inherited a huge jewelry collection. A collection considered the largest in the world and whose value is today estimated at more than 120 million dollars.

And if the queen likes to wear sumptuous pieces on special occasions, she has a particular affection for more casual pieces from her personal collection, which she only leaves on very rare occasions. She very regularly wears two lucky bracelets on her right wrist, each of which has a special meaning in her eyes: a gold bracelet with personalized charms, a bracelet against the evil eye.

Bracelet against the evil eye

The first is a bracelet from which a variety of coin-shaped charms hang. One of them is engraved with the numbers 30.12.09: they represent the date of birth of his twin grandsons, Gus and Louis, the children of his daughter Laura Parker-Bowles. The second is a bracelet against the evil eye, a thin gold chain on which there is a nazar (an amulet in the shape of an eye, Editor’s note) and a cross.

Recently, the Queen wore a more original and much less formal bracelet than the ones she is accustomed to. It is a friendship bracelet, made up of a simple blue cotton string and one or more pearls, which she has worn several times this year. She is not the first in the royal family to wear this type of bracelet: King Charles III wears one, as do his grandchildren, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

A bracelet from her favorite brand, Van Cleef & Arpels

Since the death of Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, Queen Camilla has started to wear another bracelet, which it is now rare not to see on her right wrist. This is the Vintage Alhambra 5 motif bracelet in yellow gold and blue agate stones, from its favorite jewelry brand, the French house Van Cleef & Arpels. “Faithful to the first Alhambra creation in 1968, the Vintage Alhambra collection by Van Cleef & Arpels is distinguished by its timeless elegance. Inspired by the four-leaf clover, the lucky symbol patterns are adorned with a delicate outline of gold pearls of the four-leaf clover,” the house said in a press release.

And the four-leaf clover was not, at this time, chosen at random. It symbolized both luck, for the start of the reign of the new sovereign, but also faith, love and hope, strong symbols for the British royal family during this period of mourning.
