The AirPods Pro 2 are one of the new devices marketed by Apple at the end of the year. The wireless earbuds stand out with a few features like “pro-level” active noise reduction and adaptive audio. Of course, the ability of AirPods Pro 2 to turn into a hearing aid remains their major asset. French consumers can finally carry out the hearing test necessary to use wireless headphones in this way. We explain the steps to follow and the conditions to respect to carry it out.
The conditions and steps for carrying out the AirPods Pro 2 hearing test
The AirPods Pro 2 hearing test is finally available in France. You can imagine that certain conditions must be met to be able to achieve this. Here are which:
- Have a device with iOS 18.2 or iPadOS 18.2
- AirPods Pro 2 are up to date
- Install the ideal tips for headphones
- Clean your AirPods Pro 2
- Charge them enough
- Make sure not to take the test right after less than 24 hours after a respiratory condition (cold, flu)
Then, all you have to do is launch it as follows:
- Go to Settings > your AirPods
- Tap “take a hearing test”
- Put your AirPods back in their case and close the lid if asked and tap “OK”
- Go to a quiet place so that the ambient noise level is fairly low
- When the hearing test starts, tap the screen when you hear a sound (they play three times to give you time to respond)
- The test pauses if ambient noise increases or your AirPods move
- Results are displayed at the end of the test
The hearing test results show your overall hearing loss in dBHL (decibel hearing level). You are considered to have hearing loss above 25 dBHL. 26 to 40 dBHL corresponds to mild hearing loss, between 41 and 60 dBHL to moderate hearing loss and between 61 and 80 dBHL to severe hearing loss.
You can then use the hearing test results to adjust the sound of your AirPods Pro 2 using Hearing Aid.
