The Nintendo Switch 2 is revealed, new leaks reveal the secrets of the console

A new major leak has just fueled speculation around the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. An anonymous Reddit forum user claims to have had access to the console, and has thus just provided precise details on the successor to one of the consoles the best-selling in history.

According to information shared on r/NintendoSwitch2, the new console would retain the name “Switch 2”, sporting a logo similar to its predecessor with the addition of a “2” in the center. The base model would come in an elegant dark gray, but it would also be accompanied by a white version and a special edition which would refer to a mysterious “game with a 9”. You will have understood it, it would potentially be a Mario Kart 9 themed console.

Ergonomic improvements seem to be at the heart of Nintendo’s concerns. The Joy-Cons would benefit from larger buttons and analog sticks, while their attachment system would produce a “satisfying” magnetic “click”. A surprise feature would even be integrated into the upper part of the detachable Joy-Con.

The Switch 2 will be entitled to a new Dock

On the hardware side, the dock is more spacious and has a curved shape, while retaining the same connectivity as the current model. The LCD screen “pops out a lot more,” according to the source, but the console maintains a similar weight to the original Switch. Backwards compatibility seems assuredthe cartridge port remaining identical.

The official presentation could take place before February 2025, sincea meeting with Nintendo investors would be scheduled for February 4. What gives credibility to this leak is that the subreddit moderator claims to have received evidence confirming this information, but it remains confidential to protect the identity of the source.

While these details are tantalizing, aside from the lack of an OLED screen, Nintendo has so far only confirmed the release of a new console in 2025. The company faces a major challenge: succeed to the Nintendo Switch, third best-selling console in historybehind the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS.
