In the Bois-Roux district, the first part of the Forests of the Future project is coming to an end. On the first two plots of 5,500 m2the Plaines landscaper Thomas has already planted 168 trees. Thursday, December 12, volunteers, including very involved residents of the neighborhood, continued the task with 54 trees, which will be followed by the 300 small plans of the adjoining microforest.
All the fruit trees and pollinators have been numbered for their future sponsorship, and the aisle, traced with wire, will be lined with explanatory QR codes. Despite the humidity this fall, the plantings are looking good. “The earth is loam, composed of silt, clay and sand,” explains Christian du Colombier, vice-president of the association, it will just be necessary “enrich it in spring with phosphate with nettle and comfrey manure”.
The next two years should see an additional hectare and a half planted in two forests, one of conifers and the other of drought-resistant Mediterranean trees, because this is the whole experimental challenge of the Forests of the Future: to be the public laboratory for the survival of trees for future generations. All that is missing are the sponsors and patrons for this final installment.
