pilgrims who walked in 2024 discussed their experience

Around thirty people gathered Friday evening, November 29, 2024 for an evening of sharing between pilgrims who have walked in 2024 towards one of the many pilgrimage paths: the path to Mont-Saint-Michel (via the Plantagenêts route which crosses the department), the path to Santiago de Compostela of course, and the path to Rome. Strong words characterized what they experienced there. For everyone, the journey was a time of friendly encounters with other pilgrims, with the hospital workers who welcome and accommodate as well as with the locals. It is also a path of discovery of landscapes and heritage. It is finally a path of self-discovery. For most of them, the return to daily life was difficult with a feeling of lack and emptiness as the gap was so significant after this parenthesis in their lives. And then, it is gradually replaced by the impatience to leave again to experience all the emotions of the journey and for some, it even becomes a real addiction. Regardless, walking to Santiago de Compostela left positive marks in their lives. The conclusion of this evening is that “the path is an integral part of us and surely for our whole life”. A shared picnic allowed the evening to continue in the same spirit of conviviality and sharing as on the way.

Next meetings: December 12, hike followed by a meal at the restaurant, January 25, 2025, general assembly of the association of Friends of Compostelle and Mont-Saint-Michel in Deux-Sèvres followed by an afternoon doors open to all on the theme “Let’s prepare our Path 2025”.
