Some highly exclusive vehicles are sometimes found at auction. This was recently the case of the two Lamborghini Countachs that were featured in the film “Wolves of Wall Street” or even a Ferrari F430 and a Rolls-Royce Phantom that belonged to Donald Trump.
This time, it is the only copy of the famous “ Shaguar “, aJaguar E-Type Series I Roadster de 1967a car that we saw in the cinema in the trilogy of films Austin Powers starring actor Mike Myers. The car also played a role in the video for the theme song “Beautiful Stranger”, performed by Madonna.
Typical car for a spy
Every spy needs an iconic car, and famous British secret agent Austin Powers was no exception. Production finally settled on a 1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster. The car was found and prepared for the film, and was later named Shaguar. Myers found himself behind the wheel in several scenes, as did several of his female co-stars.
On the outside, the car is painted in the colors of the Union Jack with a dark blue interior. Under the hood, the car has a 4.2-liter 6-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. The car is equipped with disc brakes and rims with spindles.
The car will be on sale at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, Florida from January 7 to 19, 2025 alongside 4,500 other vehicles. The car was initially assembled on December 8, 1967 and has body number 4E8526. Its body was initially painted Opalescent Silver Blue with a blue roof and dark blue interior.
A unique car
The car includes letters of authentication from its creators, Josh Hancock (Cinema Vehicle Coordinator) and Ray Claridge (owner of Cinema Vehicle Services), who took charge of the vehicle for production. It also features the classic license plate and “SHAGUAR” trunk emblem.
Several similar models have sold for more than a million dollars in the past, this exclusive car could, according to experts, sell for a price of several million dollars.
As it has been in a private collection since the end of the film series, the “Shaguar” has sometimes been loaned to the Jaguar/Land Rover company to be featured at events. In the mid-2000s, Jaguar/Land Rover carried out much of the restoration of the car, including the mechanicals. This is a unique opportunity to own a unique car in the world, especially since there is only one example.
