A video game marking its era inevitably pushes one or more generations of developers to be inspired by it, with more or less success and originality. It happens that even certain titles approach the particularly fine line between inspiration and plagiarism, as did The Day Before with its artistic direction very close to that of The Last of Usright down to the font of its title.
Palworldin Nintendo's sights for its proximity to Pokémon, is also a very good example of a title that approaches the red line. Perhaps not as much as this new game that the Polaris Quest studio, a subsidiary of the giant Tencent, has just presented. Its open world software named Light of Motiram looks like two drops of water Horizon from Sony.
Light of Motiram, the Horizon 3 that will make Sony cringe
Chinese studio Polaris Quest unveils Light of Motiraman open-world action-adventure game. In this post-apo universe, civilization has almost entirely disappeared because of machines called “mechanimals” living freely. « In this mechanical wilderness, where civilization is a distant memory, primitive tribes, extreme weather conditions and lurking mechanimals put your survival skills to the test. Intelligently exploit the resources around you to survive and face formidable bosses “, says the game's description on Steam.

It's not just the synopsis of Light of Motiram which reminds Horizon. Seeing a few seconds of the game's trailer could almost make you believe that it's about Horizon 3 so striking are the similarities with the Guerilla license. The heroine is similar to Aloy, many mechanimals have a design similar to the machines ofHorizon and even the main artwork looks exactly like that ofHorizon Forbidden West. Same thing for the soundtrack inevitably recalling the voice of Julie Elven.
It happens that small studios go all out in this way, but seeing that an industry giant like Tencent is at the helm of this project is surprising. Note all the same that the gameplay of Light of Motiram stands out fromHorizon gameplay side with its clashes very oriented towards melee, while Aloy focuses mainly on ranged attacks and traps. The title also offers a multiplayer mode (Guerilla would work on a Horizon in multi). Light of Motiram will appear on PC at a date still undetermined. Maybe Sony will look into the game's case by then.
