Light of Motiram: when Tencent grossly plagiarizes Horizon Zero Dawn – News

We often worry about the lack of originality of works designed by generative artificial intelligence, but Tencent reminds us that human mega-corporations will always know how to surpass the machine in the art of copy and paste, if it comes to save a few dollars and confuse the consumer to better empty their pockets. So, Light of Motiram will be a multiplayer survival game where humans live (almost) in harmony with giant animal-shaped machines in a post-apocalyptic universe where people dress in brown, with glittering technological trinkets as jewelry, and structures gray-white mechanics dotted with bright lights. It's literally Horizon Zero Dawnbut made in China.

Given that Light of Motiram is truly a shameless plagiarism of the universe established by Guerrilla Games, it is difficult to take its playful proposition seriously as the commercial approach is cynical, even insulting. But let's still try to see things more clearly. Light of Motiram mixes several trends of recent years with survival mechanics where players will have to help each other to cut wood, survive the cold and build fortresses in order to repel “Mechanimals”, mechanical creatures which have replaced traditional fauna. Polaris Quest claims that “ each beam or brick will be subjected to realistic physical forces », and that it will therefore be necessary to build its villages with caution.

But the main subject is obviously the Mechanimals, which we will be able to capture like Pokémon – ah, that's the aspect Palworld ! – and customize with new parts to improve their combat capabilities. Because yes, Light of Motiram will include a lot of fighting. “ Avoid, block and parry with precise timing. Hone your skills in the face of death by skillfully dodging enemy attacks to seize the opportunity and counterattack. […] Bring together up to 10 players to take on grueling challenges. No matter where you are, go on an adventure whenever you want with your friends. »

A gigantic salad of mechanics which hopes to overshadow the future multiplayer game Horizon, which is still in development at Guerrilla Games. It remains to be seen whether Tencent will be able to supplant the PlayStation franchise, which would be quite a stretch given the shameless imitation of its aesthetic, let's be honest.

Light of Motiram will be released on PC and does not yet have a release date.
