Larian Studios continues to work on Baldur’s Gate 3one of the best games of recent years. The RPG will notably include cross-play, a popular feature that will allow friends to play together without any barriers.
In 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 absolutely won everything. And no one will dare say that it was undeserved. Larian Studios has given a lot of love to its RPG inspired by the official rules of Dungeons & Dragons (who were themselves inspired by the game). And imagine that the developers continue to pamper their nugget, which still brings together more than 50,000 people on average, every day, just on Steam.
Indeed, Larian Studios still has at least one big patch in its bag to evolve Baldur’s Gate 3. Some new features were detailed in a note published on Steam on November 27. We discover that the game will benefit from cross-play, a feature which should delight all fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2025.
Cross-play is coming in Baldur’s Gate 3
Cross-play, which has been around for a few years now, is a major feature: it allows you to play with anyone, even if they are playing on a platform other than you. So, if you're playing on PS5 and your best friend swears by Xbox, cross-play allows you to get together without any problem.
« Once the update is live, you will be able to directly invite your friends to join your cross-play game, regardless of their platform, and find cross-play games with your friends on other platforms, thanks to Larian Network », Indicates the studio – which requires having a Larian account.
Cross-play in Baldur’s Gate 3 is all the more welcome as the RPG invites you to take part in a vast cooperative epic, thus getting closer to a real tabletop RPG game. The possibility of completely breaking down the barriers is a real boon and, here, there will be no concern for fairness. Cross-play may only be a problem in competitive games, for example, when one player on a controller faces another using a keyboard and mouse.
Larian Studios won't just add cross-play to Baldur’s Gate 3 with its “Patch 8”. There will also be a deepening of the customization possibilities with the appearance of subclasses (one for each class). Finally, Baldur’s Gate 3 will receive a photo mode to immortalize his greatest moments of bravery – or highlight the most beautiful settings of the game with a myriad of effects. In short, in 2025, we will still be playing Baldur’s Gate 3.
