Baldur's Gate 3 is back in the news with the announcement of a truly colossal patch 8 to come, which will include a bunch of new features eagerly awaited by the community.
Once again, Larian Studios hits the headlines and surprises us in the most pleasant way. While he said he was done with the massive addition of new features in Baldur's Gate 3, a patch 8 coming soon is full of them. This includes many long-awaited features, but also additions that may make you want to play it again. That being said, you'll have to wait a bit before you can try all of this. We dissect this punchy announcement.
Baldur's Gate 3 will further spoil its players with the upcoming patch 8
The famous patch 7 introducing full mod support, in a way offering the keys to the castle to the community, was to be the last for Baldur's Gate 3. Today there are more than 3,000 mods created since this patch, and more than 70 million downloads. The absolute GOTY 2023 therefore still remains a phenomenal success, one year after its release. Larian had promised us the addition of certain features later such as a mode photo now traditional in games or cross-play between PC and consoles. These appear in the patch 8 roadmap. Note that this will not be available immediately, first going through a phase of stress test from next January.
But this is not the only pleasant surprise that Larian Studios has kept up its sleeve for patch 8 of Baldur's Gate 3. In addition to the highly anticipated photo mode and cross-play, the title also welcomes the trifle of 12 new subclasses from the 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons, some of which have been awaited for a long time by fans of the iconic role-playing game. All classes will therefore have completely new ways to play and new spells to try. The upcoming subclasses are as follows:
- Bard: College of Charm
- Barbarian: Way of the Giants
- Cleric: Domain of Death
- Druid: Circle of Stars
- Paladin: Oath of the Crown
- Warrior: Arcane Archer
- Monk: Master of Drunkenness
- Ranger: Cloud Guardian
- Dodger: Buccaneer
- Sorcerer: Shadow Magic
- Occultist: Cursed Blade
- Wizard: Bladesong
Patch 8 will also come again fix various bugs old and new that can arrive with this real wave of new products. The Baldur's Gate 3 community is in any case once again very spoiled. It remains to be seen when it will be deployed, as the stress test phase is only accessible to those wishing to register to try all of this to help Larian Studios track down possible problems caused. In any case, you will find all the new features to come in detail, notably via the game's Steam page.
