5.9 kg to be more precise, for a bike that, says Scott, is capable of handling a World Tour sprint, leading a breakaway or even claiming all the KOMs along the way.
12 watts faster than the previous version, 36% more comfortable, all with the possibility of mounting tires up to 34 mm, on paper at least, this Addict RC is tempting and could well be THE bike for everything .
Manufacturing is done via an inflatable preformed core which allows for a perfectly smooth finish even inside the frame, without any excess resin. Only the resin necessary for rigidity and resistance is present.
The constant molding pressure over the entire surface of the frame ensures optimal compaction and avoids any additional reinforcement while reducing the thickness by up to 0.6 mm in certain areas. A completely new method has been developed for this new Addict, a unique method in the cycle industry.
This new manufacturing process with PP mandrel is the key which allowed the weight saving of 300 grams on the frame kit and fork assembly, thanks to this precision molding of the interior surfaces and transition zones. All this also made it possible to further optimize the shapes of the tubes by eliminating additional constraints, reinforcements and unnecessary material. The result is a lighter frame, but still just as strong and rigid.
A geometry intended to make the Addict RC more maneuverable and agile in tight turns and rapid changes of direction, while maintaining a stable bike also able to withstand sudden gusts of wind.
Increased agility and responsiveness are the promise of this Addict RC.
Indeed, the use of fewer materials in the seat tube, a redesigned saddle clamping system as well as the adoption of a brand new Syncros SP-R101-CF seat post has made it possible to play on flexibility of the whole to promote comfort during the longest outings.
This seat post alone provides 30% more comfort compared to the SL version.
On the most demanding terrains, the possibility of fitting 34 mm section tires will further improve filtration.
A seat post 10% lighter than the previous one. At the back of this stem, a magnetic support system allows you to easily attach a Syncros rear light.
An aerodynamic handlebar with a slight flare, as is now customary on most bikes. And thanks to a new tightening system, this cockpit is 40 grams lighter than the old version while remaining just as rigid.
The counter support is also new and weighs only 12 grams thanks to 3D printing which makes it possible to have a support 70% lighter than the CNC machined versions.
Going ever further in terms of ease and practicality, Scott integrates a universal tool into the hanger. The T25 wrench allows you to adjust the handlebars, stem, seat post, saddle clamp and even bottle cages.
A single screw system for the entire bike, that's a good thing!
On paper, the Addict RC has everything to please and even the paint work, at least on the most expensive versions, seems to be a success and brings that sexy side to the bike.
Of course, the prices are relatively high, with a range ranging from €4,999 to €12,999. But with equivalent equipment, this Scott Addict RC remains a little cheaper than most competitors.
