GeForce RTX 5090D: Leak suggests Nvidia is preparing an exclusive GPU for China

The next generation of GeForce RTX 50 Series is expected to launch next year. A leak has revealed the logo of the high-end GeForce RTX 5090D graphics card. This GPU is expected to be exclusive to China, just like the RTX 4090D launched last year.

Due to export restrictions imposed by the United States, Nvidia must release a watered-down version of its flagship GPUs. The RTX 4090D was therefore launched in China with a lower number of cores and TDP than the standard RTX 4090 (available on Amazon). Additionally, the China-exclusive card was not overclockable.

The new leak from reveals the GeForce RTX 5090D card logo. As of now, there are no official details regarding the GPU. However, as with the RTX 4090D, the next-gen GPU could have fewer cores and a lower TDP than the standard RTX 5090.

Apart from these differences, the rest of the GPU could remain the same. The standard and Chinese variants are expected to use TSMC’s 4NP process. The cards should be based on the Blackwell architecture. The standard variant could come with 448-bit GDDR7 video memory and consume up to 500W of power.

The RTX 5090D is reportedly named after the dragon, an important symbol of the Chinese zodiac. This suggests the card could launch before the Lunar New Year on January 28, marking the transition from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake.
