Changing phones will be much easier with this Android innovation

Google continually updates Android. This not only results in system-level innovations, but also in options that make our lives easier. It is precisely in this context that we learn about Android innovation which will allow us to keep applications connected even after a reset, or when we change phones. The news we are talking about is at the API level, and therefore concerns developers who offer their products in the form of Android applications. As we mentioned above, this is the ability to keep apps connected even after you reset your phone or when we change devices. This operation has always been tricky, given that when we start the new phone, or when we start resetting the phone, we have to connect to all our services that provide protection. Let’s imagine this operation repeated for all applications that concern private accounts, such as email clients, banking services, additional login services such as those for two-factor authentication. But also social applications, which require access at least by email and password. With the news that Google is preparing, these operations will be much faster on Android. The feature provides that every time you access an application or service from your device, a recovery key will be saved on the device itself through the Credential Manager API. This key is encrypted, and therefore completely secure. And the same dongle will connect automatically when you set up a new device.

When resetting, all keys will be transferred to the new device. This also ensures this functionality continues for subsequent phone resets or changes. To access and make these recovery keys “operational”, you will obviously also need to log into your Google account on the new device. The function that Google is preparing will also allow you to save the recovery key to the cloud, always in encrypted form. This adds an extra level of versatility and security, since the existence of the key will no longer be tied to the existence of the device on which it is generated. Now the ball passes to developers, who will have to integrate this functionality of saving recovery keys relating to the applications they develop. Once this is done, we, the users, will no longer have to worry about accessing all the applications when we change phones or when we reset the one we already have (provided we choose cloud backup of the key) .
