According to a new rumor, Nintendo is aiming to produce around 7 million units for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, with the aim of bringing to market the number of consoles necessary to satisfy public demand. According to a leaker, Nintendo is therefore aiming to reach “around 2.5 times the volume of March 2017” for the Switch, thus creating “a huge launch” for the new console. And it is precisely in this sense that it is important to remember that at the end of March 2017, 2.74 million Switches had been sold (the launch took place on March 3, 2017). Therefore, keeping this data in mind, this would mean that Big N would intend to release approximately 6.85 million units of Nintendo Switch 2 to the global market, thus combating the stock shortage. Compared to other consoles, the PS4 sold 2.1 million units in its first two weeks on sale, while the PS5 sold 10 million units in 249 days despite stock shortages. While waiting to see if this rumor will be confirmed or not, we remind you that Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with the first console.
