It’s a complication that won the coveted Aiguille d’Or prize at the 24e edition of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix, November 13 at the Théâtre du Léman. This is the Portugieser Eternal Calendar, the first secular calendar from the Swiss brand IWC. It automatically takes into account the leap year exception rules of the Gregorian calendar by skipping three leap years out of 400 years. And it also displays the Moon phases with an accuracy of 45 million years. This indication theoretically only deviates from the real orbit of the Moon by one day after 45’361’055 years! A world record.
