MONTRÉAL, the 20 nov. 2024 /CNW/ – On Black Friday, rather than promoting sales, Decathlon encourages Canadians to swap shopping for sport. People who make room for sport in their schedule that day simply have to invite the brand to the event on their calendar for the chance to receive a free sports item.
Every year, Black Friday pushes us to spend the day in front of our screens looking for the best deals, leaving us little time for a little physical activity. So, to offer everyone a healthier option for this day, Decathlon is going against the grain by offering Canadians to make room for sport rather than shopping.
The Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States is the biggest shopping event of the year. But it doesn’t come without its share of financial and psychological stress: the dopamine felt by adding items to the cart is quickly replaced by anxiety or regret. In fact, 88% of shoppers say they have spent too much on Black Friday in the past (TechReport, 2024).
“Sports have a unifying power, and it is proven that they improve physical and mental health.
