Google is preparing to launch alerts for social addicts: new developments to come on digital well-being

Google offers many interesting tools to its users, especially those who own an Android device. A few years ago, we saw the emergence of a tool for monitoring the digital well-being of green robot users. And in recent days, digital wellness has received warnings for drug addicts, and not only. Digital Wellbeing initially arrived as a standalone app on Android. Over time it has undergone several updates, with increasingly specific functionalities to monitor the use we make of our smartphone, and above all with suggestions to increase our digital well-being. Digital Wellbeing is currently deeply integrated into Android, to the point where access is directly within the system settings. And the news that has just arrived makes it even more powerful.

In fact, Google’s tool received reminders based on duration of use. This is a feature that will be able to monitor the usage time of the applications installed on our device and then display periodic reminders to make us more aware of the length of our day by looking at the phone screen . How much time did you spend on Instagram or TikTok today? So far, Digital Wellbeing offers users the ability to view statistics on the usage time of each installed application, as well as view the number of device unlocks during the day and the number of notifications received. We also had the option of using timers for specific applications, based precisely on usage time.

Until now, we have had some useful options for monitoring time spent on the phone, but they all share the need for manual consultation on our part. The new Digital Wellbeing function overcomes this limit by offering automatic alerts that will show us the usage time of each application. The new option is accessible from the main Digital Wellbeing screen. Once activated, you will be able to choose which applications to activate reminders for. So, all flagged apps will periodically offer screen time alerts to users. The new feature we just saw should already be available to all Android users. Its distribution takes place automatically through the server and so you should already have it available in your Digital Wellbeing section.
