The iPhone 6, a model released in 2014, remains to this day the thinnest iPhone ever produced by Apple. It was indeed 6.9 mm thick. All previous models were between 7.6mm and 12.3mm thick. Subsequent models have never done better in terms of thinness, with the latest iPhone 16 measuring 7.8mm (iPhone 16 and 16 Plus) and 8.25mm (iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max), for example. But the old iPhone model could be dethroned by the iPhone 17 Air.
Expected in September 2025, this future model, which will replace the Plus version, should have a thickness of around 6 mm, according to Jeff Pu, an analyst close to the Apple brand cited by MacRumors. This device, which could also be called “Slim”, would have a 6.6-inch screen, compared to 6.3 inches for the iPhone 17 and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It might only feature a single camera on the back, unlike other models in the future series.
The iPhone 17 Air could become the thinnest iPhone, but not Apple products. This record is held by the 13-inch version of the iPad Pro M4, which is only 5.1 mm thick.
