Huawei Mate 70 pre-orders are now open

Earlier today, new details regarding the upcoming Mate 70 series of smartphones surfaced online via Weibo. While pre-orders are already underway, the Mate 70 range is currently only targeting the Chinese market. The list of devices that will appear on November 26 includes the vanilla Mate 70, its Pro and Pro+ brothers, as well as the Mate 70 RS Extraordinary Master Edition (also called “Ultimate Edition” by some sources), which is more likely to be a new model (which is more likely a name suited to English-speaking markets, after all).

According to the aforementioned Weibo post, the list of models that will join Huawei’s existing product portfolio is quite long. For example, the Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro will have 12 GB of memory and a whopping 1 TB of internal storage. The Mate 70 Pro+ goes even further by going up to 16 GB of memory. While the vanilla model offers 66W fast charging, all others get 100W charging.

As for the camera, all the aforementioned models feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor. However, additional sensors depend on the model. While the Pro model is equipped with a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, the base model only has a 12-megapixel sensor. The whole family is equipped with a 16 MP infrared camera on the back and a 13 MP selfie sensor on the front.

Depending on the model, the color choices may be different. While the Mate 70 can be pre-ordered in black, white, green and purple, the Pro+ is available in silver, white, black and blue. The top-of-the-line Ultimate Edition model is only available in red and black.

Although powered by Huawei’s powerful Huawei Kirin 9100, the Mate 70 series comes with HarmonyOS Next which is unfortunately not compatible with Android apps. If these devices are intended to be released next year, as many rumors suggest, Huawei should find a good software solution to make them attractive from this point of view as well.

For now, those who want to get a feel for the Mate lineup can pick up the Mate 50 Pro (8/256GB, international version) in Black on Amazon for $675 instead of $899 thanks to the $25 off % in progress.
