Apple: a first television in the pipeline (once again…)

Uncle Mark Gurman and his Power On newsletter for Sunday November 17, 2024 delivered some interesting projects currently in development at the Apple firm. After talking to us the previous week about a connected camera or even a home automation screen, the Bloomberg journalist is now talking about .

According to its information, the apple firm “evaluates” the idea of launching a first television. It must be said that the idea of an Apple TV integrated directly into a screen would not have any trouble appealing.

By adding to this an Oled panel and all the high-end industry standards (HDR10+ Adaptive, Dolby Vision, Dolbu Atmos, HDMI 2.1, VRR, etc.), Apple would easily achieve its much-appreciated premium pricing positioning.

But all this would become reality on one condition: the success of the connected screen which we spoke to you about above. Expected for the start of 2025, the latter would be designed for home automation (and a little productivity), and would make abundant use of Apple Intelligence.

Potentially named “HomePad”a mix between HomePod speakers and iPad tablets, it would be followed in 2026 by a model with a larger screen and a robotic arm.

“If the first product fails,” Apple “may have to rethink its smart home ambitions again,” shares Mark Gurman. Thus, Apple’s television project would be abandoned in the event of failure in the field of home automation with future products.

For 9to5Mac, the idea of a dedicated TV at Apple “could contribute to the high-end television market, as niche as it is”. The American media notes in passing that this project could go against another niche device recently launched by Apple: the Vision Pro.

For information, the Apple television project dates back to 2009, a period when informants were leaning towards a launch during 2011.
