While the PS5 Pro was recently released, Xbox has no immediate plans to launch new machines. Fortunately for Microsoft, LaPetitePelle may have found the solution to allow them to compete with Sony…
The Hidden Chip
This is an 11 year old meme. 2013 marked the releases of the Xbox One and PS4, causing historic excitement. The reason is simple, never have the two competitors released their respective consoles at such a close dateespecially since this date corresponded to the Black Friday period. The duel also inspired the trilogy of legendary episodes of season 17 of the series South Park, which parodies Game of Thrones by focusing the plot on the war between the release of the two consoles. Today, Sony's victory is clear : Microsoft itself admitted to having sold half as many consoles as their Japanese rival.
Also, many gamers had been disappointed with the performance of the Xbox Onewhich gave rise to a meme on the networks. Internet users had issued the hypothesis of a “hidden chip” in the American machinewhich Microsoft could activate remotely in order to drastically increase performance.
A fading rivalry
When its latest generation of consoles was released, Xbox has decided to launch two models: the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series. In terms of graphics and performance, Microsoft had promised a simple difference in resolution (1440p for the S, 4K for the X), but similar performance. However, this promise is not completely kept, since the Xbox Series S displays clearly below performance of those offered by his big sister.
During this time, Sony has just released its PS5 Proleaving Xbox in the rearview mirror for the moment. Xbox is seeking to become market leader (or at least co-leader) again, but the numerous layoffs could prove to be a hindrance to their comeback. Despite everything, there are trackslike the future portable console announced by the CEO of the firm Phil Spencer. At the same time, AMD – which supplies Microsoft – is currently developing new chips which are accompanied by a new system, even more efficient and which should support even the biggest games at 60 FPS.
Xbox could even look to take the lead for the next generation of console, with a possible release in 2026 of the next modelwhile Sony would have to wait a little longer.
