Casio and Timex launch rings that tell time

Who really needs a connected ring when you can have a ring instead… that tells the time? Timex and Casio decided that the time had come to transform watches into rings and after all, why not (but above all: why?).

Having the time on your wrist is ultimately very commonplace. Casio et Timex have decided to invest our fingers, with rings using the design of their classic quartz watches, but much smaller. Timex got the ball rolling last month, with a model designed with the Maison Margiela.

Time on the wrist is old-fashioned

The two thieves have revisited the retro design of the T80 to adapt it to the finger. This micro-watch has a stainless steel case and an extendable bracelet of the same metal. The ring watch is available in two sizes S/M and M/L, priced at €180. Unfortunately, stocks are sold out.

Regardless, Casio will launch the marketing of its own watch ring model, the CRW-001-1JR, in December… but unfortunately, only in Japan where it will cost around €120. The manufacturer wants to salute the 50th anniversary of its arrival on the watch market in this way. The LCD screen therefore displays the time and seconds, there are even three functional buttons around the case to obtain the date, the time in another country, or even a stopwatch.

The screen is also able to light up to act as a (very small) flashlight, and you can use the ring as an alarm clock if you really want to. The announced autonomy is two years. Unlike Timex, this model from Casio does not include an extendable bracelet; Only one size is available, but the ring comes with spacers for adjustment (and if your finger is too big, too bad for you!).
