Lenovo has launched a new thin and light laptop in China that does not come with an Intel or AMD processor. Called Kaitan X1, it is equipped with a Zhaoxin KX-6000G processor made in China. This is not a new processor, since Zhaoxin first presented it in 2022.
The same goes for performance. As reported in a leaked Geekbench benchmark, the Zhaoxin KX-6000G can perform well between the Core i3 4010U and the Core i5 5015U. These two Intel processors are from 2013 and, compared to Lunar Lake and Strix Point processors, they are far behind.
Zhaoxin claims otherwise. The Chinese company claims that the Zhaoxin KX-6000G is a “high-performance processor” that can meet the “needs of various application scenarios.” As the leaked benchmark suggests, it can’t really handle heavy workloads like the processors in recently launched laptops (Asus ProArt PX13, currently $1,449.99 at Best Buy). But yes, it should be perfect for daily and office tasks.
In addition to the Zhaoxin KX-6000G, the Lenovo Kaitan X1 is part of the line of modern, thin and light computers. It features a 2.8K OLED display with relatively thin bezels. The build quality also seems premium. Weighing 0.99kg and measuring 13.9mm thick, the laptop features an aerospace-grade carbon fiber chassis.
Its port selection seems decent too, with three USB-A ports, one USB Type-A, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Other highlights of the Kaitan X1 include a “high density” battery, a backlit keyboard, and a sleek design. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but given that it is equipped with a processor made in China, it is unlikely that this Lenovo laptop will debut worldwide.
