Since October 30, the Pokémon TCG Pocket card game has been available. It probably comes to calm the appetite of video game and Pokémon fans, who have been lacking since the release of Pokémon Scarlet on Switch in 2022. But some have an ogre's hunger and prove it by already reaching the maximum level on the game and don't know what to do anymore.
Pokémon Pocket: it has already reached the maximum level
Pokémon TCG Pocket concludes a period of almost two years without a new Pokémon video game. A title available on mobiles (iOS and Android) which highlights the CCG part (the collection of cards) more than the TCG part (the duels). It is possible to open packages for free twice a day, and more if you decide to invest money in them. Each booster contains five cards, cards which complete the collection and can be used in 1 against 1 games with simplified rules compared to the real card game. These different activities allow you to gain experience. Once a certain level has been reached, the player levels up and earns several rewards, one of which allows him to instantly open a pack of cards.
Except that from a certain point, it is no longer possible to gain experience since you reach the maximum level. The proof with this Japanese player who shared it on the social network X:
I finally reached the maximum level of Pokémon Pocket… What am I going to do now…
To reach such a level in two weeks, the player had to increase the number of versus fights to gain experience. He therefore no longer has any reason to participate in these meetings since they bring him nothing, a possible system of ranked games not being on the agenda.
Pokémon TCG Pocket: What's Coming
Something that should not improve in the months to come, at least in what was announced by the official Pokémon TCG Pocket development teams. In fact, new boosters are planned by the end of the year as well as exchange functionality in January 2025. However, it is likely that new limited-time events will punctuate the time remaining before the second expansion, the deployment date of which is still unknown to this day.
One of the solutions for this Japanese player is then probably to switch to Pokémon TCG Live, the faithful rule-for-rule adaptation of the physical card game. It is more difficult to handle : each player's decks are made up of 60 cards, the energy system is not automatic, Pokémon have more attack, benches can be filled with six creatures while you have to gain six points through a reward card system. In short, TCG Live is a more demanding but more in-depth version that may suit those who consider Pocket to be too simplistic… and too light in terms of activities.
