The Galaxy S25 is less powerful than the competition in Geekbench, for the same SoC

The Galaxy S25 has been spotted on Geekbench. Besides analyzing its scores, we can above all appreciate the SoC which is referenced there and it rekindles the debate.

Expected for the first half of January 2025, the Galaxy S25 will be the smallest example of Samsung’s high-end smartphones.

Many details have already leaked about this smartphone, but there remains a major gray area: which chip will it use?

On the Galaxy S25 Ultra side, there is little doubt, it will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, a major new feature in recent months and which will offer even crazier performance than that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 installed on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

On the other hand, with regard to the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus (and to the same extent the hypothetical Galaxy S25 Slim), we are still in the dark. Mediatek 9400, Exynos 2500 or Snapdragon 8 Elite, everything and its opposite has been mentioned.

All Galaxy S25s in Snapdragon 8 Elite?

Today, the Geekbench we have in front of us mentions a Korean Galaxy S25 (SM-S931N) equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite. This favors the theory indicating that Samsung would harmonize its range around a single SoC.

The SoC presented here would even be a version adapted for Samsung smartphones, presenting a higher clock frequency than the initial model: 4.47 Ghz compared to 4.32 Ghz.

If we look at the performances recorded, they are logically higher than those of the Galaxy S24, but less than other smartphones also equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung might have prioritized stability over raw performance.

Remember that in its choice of SoC, Samsung could decide to only use the latest Snapdragon in certain markets, as it has already done before. If this is the case, there is a good chance that we will not be entitled to it in . Usually, in this scheme, we are served in Exynos. However, Samsung is experiencing production problems with the Exynos 2500. Overall, we are no longer sure of anything.
