In quick succession, two of the most reliable Apple leakers in the world make consistent announcements. Yes, the apple does indeed seem to be launching into a new market very soon!
Mark Gurman and Ming Chi Kuo talk about the future of Apple… focused on home automation
If you follow Apple-related news at all, you already know the names of Mark Gurman and Ming Chi Kuo. The first is a journalist for Bloomberg and covers all apple-related news for his media. When an Apple news or leak comes from him, you can be sure that it is reliable. The second is a Chinese analyst who is very knowledgeable about industry movements. These two men have proven time and time again that their information can be believed, so when they seem to be pointing in the same direction, we owe it to you to keep you informed.
Mark Gurman announces a brand new Apple product at the start of 2025
Throughout a long paper to be found on BloombergMark Gurman explains to his readers that the next Apple product should be released from March 2025so in just 4 months! This product would be a kind of hub for interacting with your connected home. He would embark:
- A whole new operating systemequipped with Apple Intelligence (code name “Pebble”… perhaps a “HomeOS”?) at the crossroads between the sleep mode of iOS and WatchOS;
- A small square screen only 6 inches (the size of the iPhone 16 screen);
- Un support mural ;
- A module photo/camera ;
- Of the speakers well made.
It's a safe bet that it's a sort of luxury HomePod equipped with a screen, sold for around 1000 euros. At JVTECH, we imagine a design relatively close to a Google Nest Hub Max or an Amazon Echo Hub, but more premium.
The idea behind this object would be to have a special home automation hub, an enclosure equipped with a mini iPad whose primary use will be to control all connected objects in the house, access the display of surveillance cameras, receive alerts, check the weather / calendar… anyway, you get the idea. Place your bets on the product name! HubPod? HomePod Max?
Ming Chi Kuo talks about huge new Apple products for 2026!
So much for the very near future and Mark Gurman. For its part, Ming Chi Kuo, specialized in major fundamental movements in the industry, is planning for the longer term in an article released almost at the same time as Gurman's. According to his information, Apple plans to release a connected camera and perhaps other home automation objects. No clear release date, but the analyst is talking about mass production (several tens of millions of units) from 2026.
For Ming Chi Kuo, Apple plans to further expand its formidable ecosystem by going all-in on connected devices. With Siri boosted by Apple Intelligence, it seems quite logical to see Apple rush into this new market.
Soon all of us will be equipped with smart devices in our homes?
Home automation is a very strong growth sector. Connected bulbs, connected speakers, connected locks, connected TVs, connected cameras, connected thermostats, connected vacuum cleaners… far from being simple gadgets, these products are changing people's daily lives. And that's it, since the AI boom, the market seems mature enough for Apple to enter itwhich is a very strong signal.
Keep in mind that when the Cupertino giant launches into a new market, it is not to make up the numbers. Generally, the entire tech world is turned upside down. Take a step back, the pattern repeats itself over and over again:
- Apple is launching touchscreen smartphones? Everyone is starting to have touchscreen smartphones.
- Apple is launching into connected watches? They become the largest sellers of watches in the world, surpassing all Swiss watchmakers combined.
- Apple is launching wireless headphones? Almost no one listens to music without a Bluetooth connection anymore.
For the moment, only big nerds like the tech journalists that we are are well equipped with connected objects, but the arrival of the Apple juggernaut in this environment could change everything. Before long, we are convinced, the general public will start talking to their light bulbs.
