Exynos 2500: Galaxy The Z Flip 7 SoC would have entered mass production despite catastrophic yields

While there is at least one Galaxy S25 Plus sample with an Exynos 2500 processor, rumors have widely pointed to the trio launching with a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy across the board. Samsung hasn’t given up on its “dream chip”, however. South Korean media outlet Sedaily reports that the chip has entered mass production and will power the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next year.

Additionally, it is possible that it will power the Galaxy S25 Slim in mid-2025. Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. Apparently, Samsung is optimistic about the sales of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and plans to manufacture 3.9 million units initially. This figure also includes the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE model which will be equipped with the Exynos 2400 processor.

A Samsung spokesperson denied the mass production claims, but this is standard procedure for a product not yet released. In terms of raw performance, the Exynos 2500 lags behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the Dimensity 9400 at least when it comes to the processor. While the new Xclipse 950 might bring some GPU improvements, they won’t matter much on a Galaxy Z Flip 7 because gaming isn’t its primary use case.

Still, the Exynos 2500 must exist for Samsung Foundry to stay afloat. Amid low yields, long working hours and no orders from third-party customers, Samsung Foundry is struggling. Samsung will benefit from the Exynos 2500 being on par with the competition, as it sets the stage for its SF2-based successor Its SF2-based successor codenamed Thetis.
