Since its release, GTA 5 has continued to gain popularity. More and more fans are immersing themselves in this totally crazy epic, through crazy missions made up of heists, car races and desperate rescues. The Online mode of Rockstar’s production has greatly contributed to its sustainability, with updates that allow you to discover new content! But what also contributes to the success of the game are its many mysteries. The latter totally excite fans, and offer them a contrast with the realism of the Grand Theft Auto universe. It seems that one of GTA 5’s biggest mysteries is really just a smokescreen!
The mystery of Mount Chiliad, joke or reality?
For years, GTA 5 fans have tried, often in vain, to solve the mystery of Mount Chiliad. The latter has captured the imagination of players since the launch of GTA 5 in 2013 and, 11 years later, a Sub Reddit active with over 40,000 users still trying to resolve it. When players go to this mountain, they discover an intriguing drawing (below) whose meaning the players try to find.
Unfortunately for these intrepid detectives, an interview with Ben Hinchliffe, former Rockstar developer, for the YouTube channel GTA VI O’clock could mark the end of this mystery. Indeed, the former studio developer approached the subject of Mount Chiliad with a lot of humor, and explained how the developers, during the production of GTA 5, implemented easter eggs. For him, the drawing of Mount Chiliad would only have been a false lead…
“We have fun with people, just to make them a little crazy”
In this interview, Ben Hinchliffe clarified that, although he did not work on this particular easter egg, he did not “useless” apart from driving the players totally crazy. For him, the simple objective of the mystery of Mount Chiliad would have been to confuse the communitywith the sole aim of making users spend hours racking their brains when there is no real solution to this riddle!
“It is obvious that there is always a desire to set up very complex easter egg hunts and leads that the most dedicated players will follow. As with all easter eggs, sometimes we put references to annoy people. They’re useless. We’re having fun with people, just to make them a little crazy.”

For him, there are other references in GTA 5 which are simply there to drive players “crazy”! This response from the former Rockstar developer is unlikely to delight fans of this Mount Chiliad theory, who have been trying as best they can for years to unravel the secret. Now, users can’t wait to find out which puzzles the developers will choose to implement in the long-awaited next installment of the saga, GTA 6!
