Since the long-awaited announcement of Grand Theft Auto VI last December, Rockstar Games has communicated absolutely nothing about the game, apart from confirming its release period several times during the communication of Take's quarterly results. -Two Interactive. Precisely, during the last call with investors, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, provided some details on what to expect from the Xbox Series S version of GTA 6.
Take-Two CEO 'not really worried' about Xbox Series S version of GTA 6
While the Xbox Series S undeniably represents excellent value for money, the least powerful of Microsoft's current consoles has repeatedly encountered numerous technical obstacles, thus offering degraded versions, not only in terms of definition. We are thinking in particular of the absence of performance mode on many games.
Thus, it is not surprising to ask questions about the console's ability to run GTA 6 in good conditions, given that it will undoubtedly be a particularly impressive game on a technical level, as was Red Dead Redemption 2, and as it still is today.
In fact, Clay Griffin of MoffetNathanson asked the CEO of Take-Two if the Xbox Series S represented a challenge for the development teams. Strauss Zelnick explained in a long argument that he was “not really worried”.
Clay Griffin : “Well, it's just that the Series S is, by design, a less well-equipped console. And I suspect GTA VI will push a lot of technical boundaries. »
Strauss Zelnick : “Yes, that's true. Look, we support the platforms where consumers are as long as they're there, and we find a way to support the platforms despite the different levels of technology. Our labels are very good in this regard. I'm not really worried.
I never worried about the evolution of the equipment. I've said this many times over the years because, first of all, I don't worry about things I have no control over. And secondly, because I believe in the public. The public will show up if you have good properties, and so we need to make sure we’re present on a wide range of platforms.”
The PC, a platform that will gain in importance for Take-Two
Beyond the question relating to the Xbox Series S, he said he observed “strong growth in the personal computer sector”, which could in the future “represent an increasingly significant share of the console market”. However, at its launch, GTA 6 will only be available on Xbox Series
“And if one platform loses its value, there is always another. So, we are currently seeing strong growth in the personal computer sector, for example. And I have seen that open formats will continue to develop .PC is an open format.
I think PC will continue to be a bigger and bigger part of the console market in the future, and it's not complicated at all for us to support it. In summary, we are selective about the platforms we support. We make the technology work when we can, as long as the audience is big enough to make it worthwhile.”
We can't wait to learn more about GTA 6, especially since the announcement trailer will soon celebrate its first birthday. The title remains planned for fall 2025, so we can legitimately think that communication will accelerate in the months to come.
