Sharp has unveiled the XP-X171Q, a new X-series laser projector. This model is designed for businesses; for example, it can be used in a conference room, classroom or museum.
The XP-X171Q is touted as a 4K UHD projector with a laser light source for brightness up to 16,500 lumens. Unfortunately, no equivalent measurement from an internationally recognized standard, such as ISO or ANSI lumens, has been provided. According to Sharp, the blue laser is responsible for this higher brightness level, while the red assist laser makes the colors more vibrant. The light source is expected to last 20,000 hours without requiring maintenance. The DLP projector screen has a WUXGA resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 px for a 16:10 aspect ratio image.
According to Sharp, the XP-X171Q is compatible with a wide range of motorized lenses. The throw ratio can vary from 0.31 to 4.00 depending on the lens chosen. The device’s input ports include two HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2/1.4) and HDBaseT. Additionally, ProAssist software can be used to remotely control the projector or multiple linked projectors from a computer. It’s worth noting that the model doesn’t appear to have built-in speakers. The price of the Sharp XP-X171Q laser projector has not yet been officially announced.
