It’s impossible to have missed out on Dubai chocolate, which has been creating buzz on social networks for months. Following the craze and demand for this chocolate filled with pistachio cream and kadayif (Turkish dessert), Lindt could no longer ignore the phenomenon and decided to market its own version called Dubai Chocolade. It was initially planned that this limited edition of 1000 tablets would only be available for sale in Germany. However, due to the agitation caused by this announcement, the Swiss chocolate giant finally decided to extend the marketing of the famous pistachio chocolate to Switzerland.
Questioned by “20 minutes” on Monday, November 4, a Lindt spokesperson then confirmed that “for the moment, a launch in Switzerland is not planned.” This news did not fail to arouse the indignation of the Swiss community. Comments included: “What do you mean? The product is made by a Swiss company, but is not available in Switzerland?”, “Isn’t the Lindt chocolate maker Swiss? Why try it in Germany? or “Wait, the factory headquarters are here, on the shores of Lake Zurich. Why is chocolate not sold in Switzerland?
A question that Lindt finally saw fit to answer with a change of plan. “We have finally been informed by Lindt & Sprüngli Switzerland that the Dubai Chocolade will also be available in limited edition in certain Lindt boutiques in Switzerland from mid-November,” said a spokesperson.
The price of Lindt pistachio chocolate will be just as high in Switzerland as in Germany. Indeed, “the 150 gram tablet will be sold at the price of 14.95 francs”. For comparison, the milk chocolate used by Lindt to make Dubai Chocolade is only worth 2.95 francs per 100 grams in its online store. On the chocolatier’s German Instagram account, it is nevertheless specified that Dubai Chocolade is entirely made by hand. “Its particularity lies in the texture composed of delicately melting Lindt milk chocolate filled with a delicious 24% pistachio cream, crispy kadayif enhanced by the sweetness of Tahini,” writes Lindt & Sprüngli Germany on its site.
It is currently unknown precisely where and in what quantity the tablets will be available for sale. This information should nevertheless be communicated soon on lindt.ch as well as on the social networks of Lindt & Sprüngli Switzerland.
