While players eagerly await the announcement of Forza Horizon 6, Microsoft recently announced an organizational change within Halo developers and the license. 343 Industries has become Halo Studios and the next Halo game will be developed under Unreal Engine 5.

This decision marks a significant turning point in the development of the series, which has long been associated with its in-house engine. The development team wishes to benefit from the technological and graphic advances offered by Unreal Engine 5, making it possible to modernize future titles in the series.

The move to Unreal Engine 5 is being touted as an opportunity to improve the visual quality and gameplay of Halo games. Developers plan to use this engine's new features, such as Lumen for dynamic lighting and Nanite for geometric details, to create more immersive and realistic environments. This could also make the development process easier and allow for better optimization of games for different platforms.

This change comes as the Halo series seeks to renew itself after mixed reviews of its recent titles. The future looks bright with this new technological direction, although questions remain about how this will impact the series' traditional identity and gameplay.
