Apple has just announced a new free repair program for the iPhone 14 Plus. This is good news for users who have noticed a recurring problem with their model.
The Cupertino giant has identified an issue affecting the rear camera on “ a very small percentage » iPhone 14 Plus devices manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024. Several months later, Apple finally seems to give in to pressure from users who wanted free repair.
The problem manifests itself by lack of preview when using the rear cameraa particularly annoying malfunction for photography enthusiasts. This anomaly affects devices produced for almost a year, or half of the marketing period of this iPhone 14 Plus launched at the end of 2022.

To check the eligibility of their device, users can go to the official program page and enter their serial numberaccessible from the iPhone settings in the “General” section then “Information”.
Several options are then available to affected customers: go to an Apple Store, contact an Apple authorized repair center or ship their device to a repair center.
The program covers repairs for three years from the original purchase date. Apple reserves the right to limit repairs to the region in which the device was originally purchased.
The manufacturer specifies that customers who have already paid to repair this problem can request a refund.
This free repair program comes at the right time for owners of the iPhone 14 Plus, a model which, despite its large, attractive screen size, would not have met with the commercial success expected by Apple.

This initiative is reminiscent of Apple’s previous service programs, the last of which dates back to 2021 for a speaker problem on the iPhone 12.
As for the “Plus” range itself, its future seems uncertain. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 could abandon the Plus version in favor of a thinner but potentially more expensive “Air” model.
