Internal bleeding

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, this sea giant named Koala was first identified in 2022. “There are no obvious signs of how or why Koala died” , clarified the structure. No bite marks were found on the animal’s remains.

The authorities ordered a necropsy (an autopsy for animals, editor’s note) to determine the precise causes of this death. Tissue samples were also taken for analysis. For the moment, specialists favor the possibility of “significant internal bleeding”. A theory supported by the fact that there was “a lot of blood” around the shark’s mouth.

800 white sharks

In a message published on its Facebook account, the Orléans police recalled the unusual nature of this discovery. “This is not one of our usual calls for service,” law enforcement wrote. Before adding: “But you never really know what kind of call you will respond to. » Once there, the police only had to follow the tow truck without having to “fight against an unruly great white shark”.

However, the presence of white sharks in the area is not surprising. According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, around 800 specimens were recorded in Massachusetts waters between 2015 and 2018.
