French video game players go out more, read more, and play more sports than the average

And first on the profile of the players, who have also been players for a long time: 49% of video game players are women. The average age of French players is 39 years old, a stable trend since it was 40 years old last year. Besides 84% of players are adults (18 years and over), 16% of children aged 10 to 17. And on the other side of the spectrum, there are more and more seniors among gamers: 43% of those over 65 play video games, 4.7 million players.

Another cliché undermined by the study, that of the gamer who spends his days in front of the screen. It’s even the opposite: regular players also go to the cinema, museum, theater or concerts more often

They read more: 71% of readers among players, compared to 66% for all French people… And they also play sports more often: at least once a month for 76% of them, that’s 6 points more than the French average.

Finally, it is a leisure activity that socializes: one in two child players makes friends thanks to video games.
