the essential
Saturday, October 5, the Ear of the Hibou held its general assembly in front of a large part of its members.
The president of L’Oreille du Hibou (ODH), Anne Vigier, as she is wont to do, retraced animation after animation the progress of the 2023-2024 season on the occasion of the general assembly of the association last Saturday. A 24th season whose success has not diminished over the evenings, despite the drop in subsidies – the budget for this 2023-2024 season was cut by 15%.
Drastic cuts in spending
The 2024-2025 season looks promising with nine shows, 10 performances and school interventions. Each Commission presented its activity. The Communication Commission has significantly reduced, for cost reasons, spending on tools (fewer flyers, a smaller brochure, a new printer, etc.). The Reception Commission recalled the importance of volunteers for preparing the rooms, for welcoming artists into private homes, and for meals after the shows. Benjamin Fonteniaud, from the Technical Commission, wanted to thank the volunteers present during each assembly and dismantling of the equipment for each show. He did the same for municipal staff, for their help, availability and competence.
The treasurer, Philippe Lannes, presented this 24th season which appears well balanced, with a positive result, thanks to increased attendance at shows, with the help of the Department and the municipality. But the drop in subsidies (from the Region in particular) has forced drastic cuts in spending. Therefore, the situation of the association is fragile, and the search for sponsors is necessary. As well as the success of the efforts of the regional advisor, Claudie Faucon Méjean, and the departmental advisor, Chloé Danillon. A general assembly certainly serene, but marked by the permanent vigilance which must be carried out on the financial situation throughout this 25th season.
