Leaks regarding the MacBook Pro with Apple M4 are increasing. First, there was a leak regarding the device’s box. Then, two Russian YouTubers apparently unboxed the unannounced laptop, and one of them also shed light on the MacBook Pro’s possible performance increase over the base model M3. Today it is supposedly listed on a Russian marketplace.
Although these leaks seem legitimate, there are still some concerns to be had. All these leaks hide the full serial number of the supposed sales box of the M4-equipped MacBook Pro. Additionally, the box presents the laptop with the same wallpaper as the M3 model’s packaging, which is a bit unusual since Apple tends to offer new systems with a refreshed box.
Of course, Romancev768’s alleged unboxing video seems more legitimate than the others. The YouTuber opened the “About Mac” section in the video, revealing that it is indeed an M4 MacBook Pro. Coming back to the announcement in the Russian market, it appeared on Avito, an online shopping site similar to eBay. The MacBook Pro M4 is priced there at RUB 720,000, or around $7,455. This is an absurdly high price for the laptop, although it should be taken into account that Apple hasn’t announced it yet. However, user X Apple Pro notes that the ad was later removed because the site does not allow posting ads for “non-existent” items.
Another thing to note is that this likely won’t be the only public announcement of the MacBook Pro 2024 that surfaces before the official release. ShrimpApplePro previously reported that an anonymous seller claimed to have 200 units in stock. If true, this would undoubtedly be one of the major warehouse leaks, and it is possible that all previous leaks, including the one regarding a private Facebook group, originated in Russia.
As for the official unveiling schedule, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman recently said that Apple is expected to launch the new MacBook Pro with M4 series SoCs in early November. Given that November is approaching, it wouldn’t be wise to get the 2024 base model from a third-party dealer right now, especially at such a high price.
