Leaks on Take-Two’s radar

While waiting for news from Rockstar Gamesrumors about Grand Theft Auto VI continue to spread across the web, and some of them may not be far from the truth. Last month, the YouTuber and leaker LegacyKilla posted a long thread containing information about GTA VI on Twitter (or X). In his posts, he not only talked about the story mode, the breadth of the character of Luciaand even drew comparisons with Red Dead Redemption IIanother title of Rockstar.

This leak has all but been confirmed, as we’ve just received a DMCA takedown notice from Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two.

Since then, the leaks in question have been more or less confirmed by GTA 6 Countdownan account that lists all the news and other leaks related to the game of Rockstar. Indeed, some time after posting a summary of the information communicated by LegacyKillathe account GTA 6 Countdown received a DMCA takedown notice from Take-Twothe company that owns Rockstar. Complaints of this type are sent when copyrighted information is published without permission, and it would be surprising if Take-Two took the trouble to contact GTA 6 Countdown if the leaks did not have some truth.

A nod to San Andreas in GTA 6?

But if we look at the thread of LegacyKillayou can find other information there, such as the potential inclusion of the basketball mini-game available in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. In San Andreas, CJ could unlock the activity after completing the “Tagging Up Turf” mission, and although basketball courts appear in most GTA games, CJ is the only one who can play them to date. According to the YouTuber, the branch of Rockstar based in Toronto has been working on the development of a basketball mini-game for some time. But if we are to believe the leaker, the developers did not complete the project:

One developer said it was the best project they worked on at Rockstar, mostly because there was no overwork. Many veterans were ready to move on after RDR2 and some were happy that Dan was gone. Someone said something unflattering about Lazlo.

The basketball mini-game was developed at the Toronto studio, but it was discontinued at the end of 2023. Therein lies the difficulty of talking about a game in full development. There will be a lot more gameplay similar to RDR2 than some people think.

According to LegacyKilla, this mini-game project was abandoned towards the end of 2023, so it may not appear in the final product. However, it is not excluded that it was simply put aside so that the developers could work on more important elements of the game, and that it was added to GTA 6 through an update after its release. As the leaker explains in his thread, it’s difficult to provide concrete answers when a game is in the middle of its developmentbut being able to play a game of basketball as a nod to CJ wouldn’t be a no-no!
