Conferences, workshops, meetings… astronomy at the heart of the Science Festival

For its 33rd edition, the Science Festival will immerse visitors in a formidable ocean of knowledge. Three conferences are planned at the Louis-Aragon media library. The premiere will take place this Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is entitled “Extraordinary stories of astronomers” and will be presented by Jean Pierre Luminet of LAM, astrophysicist and sponsor of the Martega association. The latter will reveal nine little-known stories, which he recounts in his recently published book.

This will be followed on Wednesday October 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. by the conference “The epic exploration of Saturn by the Cassini-Huyghens space probe”, presented by Laurent Lamy from LAM. Finally, Saturday October 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., a conference will be organized on “Cosmic rays” by José Busto from the Center for Particle Physics (CPPM), who is very involved in the dissemination of scientific culture among young people.

In addition, astronomy workshops for children aged 7 to 12 (places limited to 24) will take place on Saturday October 12 from 10 a.m. On the program: the solar system, magnetism or measuring the diameter of the sun. The association is also organizing a night sky observation evening which will take place this Saturday, October 5 from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Couronne lighthouse in . It will be possible to see the planets and in particular, Jupiter and Saturn. Entrance is free and free.
