No more endless Fortnite sessions: parents will be able to limit playing time

Parents who want to control their children’s playing time now have two new dedicated tools in Fortnite.

A true phenomenon from Epic Games, Fortnite attracts many players, including the youngest. Faced with parents who are exasperated at seeing their little ones play for hours on end, the development studio has worked on two new tools intended for them. Thus, two control systems have just been integrated into the software and the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) which allows the development of experiences to be integrated into the title.

The first, available in the menu dedicated to parental controls, allows you to set the daily playing time for the child. It is also possible to set a time slot dedicated to the game, which prevents it from being able to play before or after a certain time, for example. Finally, for the sake of flexibility, parents can leave an option offering the child the possibility of requesting additional time. It is then up to the referees to accept or not the request. Note that children who are subject to a playing time limit receive a notification 30 minutes before the limit ends. This avoids the frustration of being cut off in the middle of the action.

The second is the possibility of activating a reporting system. Thus, parents can precisely monitor their children’s playing time, with the distinction between the playing time authorized daily and the additional time that has been granted. In short, no need to threaten to cut off the Internet box or the electricity.
