Nintendo opens its own museum in Japan – TOM.travel

The Nintendo brand has opened its own museum in Japan where the 135 years of history of the console and video game giant are exhibited.

Open since Wednesday October 2, the Nintendo Museum is located in Kyoto (Japan) and is installed in the former Hanafuda and Karuta playing card factory, the first activity of the group born in 1889. This new gamer’s paradise dedicated to consoles and video games, offers a “playful and nostalgic immersion in the world of the Japanese gaming specialist, through a rich collection of admirably preserved toys and multiple activities around the consoles that have conquered the world”, according to our colleagues from Le Monde.

More than 135 years of history spread over two floors

Concretely, the museum offers a look back at the 135 years of history of the Nintendo brand, from the manufacturing of playing cards to the design of the Switch, including the creation of the character Mario. All of the brand’s cult consoles and video games are on display. Rooms have also been transformed into real games rooms to allow visitors to compete in games of Legend of Zelda or MarioKart. Victim of its success, the establishment is already full until November. The next visitors will have to register on the museum website and wait to be drawn to hope to be able to visit it.
