What livery for the next Brussels Airlines plane? Votes are open

Internet users can decide which design will become the next livery of a Brussels Airlines plane.

The Brussels company announced its operation at the end of August: any Belgian or resident in Belgium could submit a design with the aim of it becoming, in finethe next livery of a Brussels Airlines plane. In total, the company received more than 900 drawings, it said this Friday morning, including some from professional artists or art school students. Among the most popular categories: cycling, art nouveau, Folon, Adolphe Sax, Lucky Luke and Marsupilami. “An internal jury evaluated the projects based on several criteria: it had to stand out from previous liveries, represent something of which all Belgians are proud and be recognized beyond borders. Of course, the design also had to meet certain quality standards“, explains Michel Moriaux, marketing manager at Brussels Airlines. In total, fifteen designs have been selected for the moment

The objective is for this design to become one of the “Belgian Icons” of the company, these particular liveries, like Rackham in homage to Tintin (which has been flying since 2015), the Trident (official plane of the Red Devils and Red Flames) or Magritte (between 2016 and 2021).

Voting is open until mid-October

The fifteen selected projects are now visible on the airline’s website, where everyone can vote for their favorite design, until October 11.

The five winning drawings will be presented to an external jury, notably composed of the designer Philippe Geluck and the musician Alex Callier (Hooverphonic). The design will be chosen on October 14, but will not be revealed until next spring.
