I hope you are in good shape! As you may have noticed, my activity has been slowing down a little since I returned from vacation at the beginning of September and for good reason, I have a lot of work.
But it’s entirely because of me and it’s cool, because as I told you about here, I took advantage of the summer to completely redevelop my site. I could stick with the old stuff that we’ve been dragging along since 2017, but I wanted a little freshness after celebrating the 20th anniversary of the site. So I worked like crazy and here I am, I have a beautiful static site, super fast, with a good search engine, clear categories and relatively well optimized.
This still required the creation of a Hugo theme (the generator of static sites), the development of different WordPress plugins (which I use in headless CMS) quite specific to ensure the link with Hugo, some shell scripts and of course a big job of cleaning / repairing my old archives. A big mess then…
So, at the moment, my daily life basically boils down to fixing bugs, optimizing things, adding new features or even developing other WordPress plugins to make my life easier. I don’t eat anymore, I don’t sleep anymore, I don’t go out anymore… I almost ONLY do that and I still have a beautiful road map in front of me. Then of course when I have 3 minutes, I’ll write you a little article so as not to leave you all alone, in front of your keyboard, without having to tinker with anything. Fortunately I had scheduled articles last May, because I significantly exceeded the schedule I had set for myself of 3 weeks.
You may not know this, but I’m not a developer and coding is not my favorite thing to do in life. I know how to code by necessity, but a bit like you know how to cook or you know how to take photos ^^. But I’m still super happy with this newfound agility, because I have 200 ideas per day of things that I would like to integrate on the site and in my personal tools, and if I realize at least one when possible , I’m happy.
The site is therefore responsive, I have a nice “dark” mode and I even put a special dyslexic font to make reading easier for those who need it.
So all this of course could not have been possible without AI. Thanks to Claude and ChatGPT without whom nothing would have been possible. Yes, I did everything alone with the AI which still gave me a huge helping hand, even in desperate situations where nothing was working.
And for hosting, thank you also to o2switch who offered me quality servers, in order to offer you a site that rocks.
Also, I didn’t want to break too radically with the previous design so there may even be some of you who haven’t noticed the difference. Objective achieved! Finally, I will finally be able to improve my site little by little. That said, if you notice any problems with certain items, do not hesitate to send me the information. I have a little over 20,000 pages (which takes me about 3 minutes to generate statically… I’m too BG), so it’s impossible for me to control everything (and the AI has its limits too).
That’s it for the news. This is also why TikTok is still on pause and the Patreons who support me (and thank you friends!) will have a few fewer videos than usual. But I’m doing the “maskimum” to get back to my cruising speed.
