If some are just discovering foldable smartphones with a double screen, manufacturers are already thinking about what’s next. According to recent rumors, HONOR is currently working on a new smartphone model that can fold into four. We’ll explain it to you.
Could we be about to enter a new era of foldable smartphones? If many models, starting with the HONOR Magic V3 or the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, are devices that fold in half, some manufacturers have their eyes turned towards the future. Always looking for unique innovations, Huawei recently unveiled its Mate XT, the very first triple-folding smartphone. Recently, HONOR would also have tackled the task, and would have a smartphone with four screens in the pipeline.
After Magic V3, HONOR is looking for a new record
Last month, the Chinese manufacturer unveiled the Magic V3, its latest foldable smartphone. Having nothing to envy of its direct competitors, the new flagship could even boast of being the thinnest foldable smartphone on the market.
Recently, and like our colleagues from Phonandroid explain it, HONOR has filed a patent ”describing a device which would be capable of folding in several directions, both vertically and horizontally”. Various specialized sites, such as 91mobiles or Huawei Centralwere able to get their hands on two diagrams illustrating the future device and its mechanism. In the sketches, we can actually see a smartphone with four screens and four hinges, a logical prerequisite for obtaining a device that folds into four.
If the idea is attractive and promises to be very practical – it is also difficult to imagine all the possible possibilities with a smartphone that folds into four – it is essential to remember that a (filed) patent does not systematically result in the arrival of a device ready to be marketed on a large scale. Concretely, we will have to be patient, and wait for a possible announcement from HONOR on a next foldable smartphone. To be continued…
